Your books belong on your Mac.

The short version

• Your imported PDFs, custom voice recordings, transcripts, generated audio, and reading library are kept on your Mac during normal use of the app.
• We use the information needed to sell and license BookBoy, provide support, protect the website, and run the public feedback board.
• Feedback posts and any screenshots you attach are public. Do not post personal, confidential, or copyrighted material that you do not have permission to share.

Information handled by the app

BookBoy copies imported PDFs into its app storage and processes readable text locally to create audio. Custom voice references and their transcripts are also stored locally, along with generated audio, local settings, and reading progress.

The app needs an internet connection for the initial local voice-model download, activating a license, and occasional license checks. It does not ordinarily upload your book text, voice recording, transcript, or generated narration to BookBoy for those tasks.

Information handled on the website

• Purchases: your email address and purchase, invoice, entitlement, and license-activation information needed to complete an order, provide access, prevent fraud, and support your purchase.
• Support: the name, email address, and details you choose to send us when you contact support.
• Feedback board: the title, description, optional display name, and optional image attachments you submit. We also use a browser identifier to limit one vote per browser and limited security information to prevent abuse.

Why we use information

We use purchase and licensing information to perform our agreement with you. We use security and abuse-prevention information to protect the service, people using it, and our legitimate interests in operating a secure service. We use information you voluntarily put on the public feedback board to publish and manage that board.

Where a law requires consent, we will ask for it. You can withdraw consent for optional processing, although that will not affect processing already carried out or processing needed to provide a purchase or meet a legal obligation.

Who may receive information

We use carefully selected providers to process payments, deliver downloads and purchase communications, host the website and secure records, store feedback images, and deter automated abuse. They receive only what is needed to provide their service. A provider may process information in countries other than yours; where required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, or respond to a valid legal request.

Public feedback, cookies, and retention

A feedback post, author name, vote count, status, and attached image are visible to everyone. We keep them until they are removed, you make a valid removal request, or the board is retired. The feedback board uses a functional browser cookie to remember a vote and security checks to help prevent spam. We do not use advertising cookies on BookBoy.

We keep purchase, licensing, and support records only for as long as needed for delivery, support, fraud prevention, tax and accounting obligations, and resolving disputes. Security records are kept for a limited period appropriate to abuse prevention.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. To make a request, email mail@bookboy.xyz from the address connected to your purchase or explain the feedback post you want us to locate.

BookBoy is not directed to children. Do not submit a child’s personal information or voice recording without the permission required by applicable law.
